Mysore Inlay work covers a range of techniques used by artisans in around the area of Mysore in sculpture. Today coloured acrylic bits are inserted into naturally sourced wood into depressions in a rosewood/teak wood/ Sheesham to form ornament or pictures. Mysore inlay has been awarded Geographical Indication tag from the Government of India in 2005 due to its historic representation depicting the region and the design and style used by the local artisans. We work with award winning artisans who have trained women artisans over the year belonging to the rural regions around Mysore. The work showcased in the Tamaala website is 100% made by these women who have excelled after a decade of training and practice.
